RONALD REAGAN UCLA MEDICAL CENTER GIVES STUDENTS A GLIMPSE OF EXCITING TRAINING, RESEARCH AND CAREER OPTIONS

The Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center has research centers covering nearly all major specialties of medicine and dentistry and serves as the primary teaching hospital for the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

On May 3rd, the campus hosted 30 of our juniors. After a brief introduction to the hospital, the students met with two physical therapists.  Their visit helped the students to better understand the field of physical therapy and the education required to pursue a related career.  The therapists also treated our students to some demonstrations of some of the equipment that is used during treatment.

At the medical school, students explored medical models and specimens used to teach a variety of classes.  They were fascinated by displays featuring human skeletons, dissected feet and fetal development, to name just a few.

The tour of the dental school included a visit to the lab, where students observed the simulation robots that are used for training and practice.  The students were also introduced to the various tools that are used in dentistry and were shown how molds are made.  A current dental student then spoke with them about what it takes to prepare for and complete dental school.

This was such an informative trip for our kids, and we are grateful to all of the volunteers, staff and students who made it possible.
