LOS ANGELES ORTHOPAEDIC MEDICAL CENTER WELCOMES 25 JUNIORS FOR A TOUR OF THEIR DOWNTOWN CAMPUS

On April 24th, the generous staff of L.A. Orthopaedic Medical Center gave a group of HSA 11th graders a first-hand look at their work, which reaches over 50,000 patients each year.

Students were taken through departments including urgent care, pharmacy, radiology, casting, physical therapy and medical research, to name just a few.  At each stop, staff from that department would talk with the students, walking them through their work and sharing information about their training and career path.

The students also enjoyed learning the history of the center, and all of the amazing contributions they have made to advances in orthopeadic care across the country and around the world.

The visit had a significant impact on the students.  "Because of it, I have found what I want to be when I grow up," shared Regina.  Her fellow classmate, Itzell, said that the tour "opened my eyes and I'm now thinking about exploring that field."  Alejandra left feeling "motivated to finish high school and go into medical school to become a radiologist."

A huge thanks to our guides Mary Beth Perrine and Barbara Murray, and to all of the wonderful staff for an experience our students will always remember!
