TWO HSA SOPHOMORES COMPLETE DREW UNIVERSITY COLLEGE BOUND PREP PLUS PROGRAM

The program is designed to increase the number of underrepresented minorities pursing careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

HSA 10th graders Martha P. and Makaila S. were among the most recent class of local high school students to complete the College Bound Prep Plus Program, a unique enrichment opportunity offered by the College of Science and Health at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science.

During the program's 15 week session, participants took part in labs, lectures, field trips, seminars and workshops focused on science and math related topics, and research and presentations methods.  The program also offered support in critical college-readiness areas such as computer literacy, library resources, writing skills, college admissions, financial aid, money management and budgeting.

To gain admission, students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above, complete an application and written essay, and secure a teacher recommendation.

Congratulations to Martha and Makaila for being chosen for this innovative program, and for all of their hard work!
