PEER HEALTH EXCHANGE BEGINS SECOND YEAR OF PARTNERSHIP WITH HSA

This year, trained health educators from the University of Southern California will teach 13 health workshops to our 9th grade students on topics including relationships, sexual health, mental health, substance abuse, and nutrition.

During the workshops, which kicked off on October 2nd, students will learn basic health information, talk about their values and goals, learn about local health clinics, and practice communication and decision-making skills.

With these skills, HSA students will be better able to make decisions that will help them stay in school, get and keep jobs, and become healthy adults.

HSA students have also been asked to be part of an evaluation process designed to help strengthen and improve Peer Health Exchange's program.  As part of the process, students will take a pre and post survey designed to determine if students’ knowledge and what they think about designated health topics change as a result of the program.

We look forward to working with Peer Health Exchange again this year and would like to think their amazing staff and volunteers for helping HSA students gain the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy decisions!
