CURTIS R. TUCKER HEALTH CENTER HELPS HSA TO REACH 100% COMPLAINCE WITH NEW VACCINE REQUIREMENT

This year, a new California state law was passed requiring all 7th thru 12th grade students to be immunized with the pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine booster.  Students who did not meet this requirement by a set date would be unable to continue attending school.

HSA staff has worked hard since the beginning of summer to provide families with the information they need to make sure that their students met the requirement.  With the deadline approaching, there were still approximately 30 students who had not yet received the vaccine.

When HSA Principal Erik Elward reached out to Maria Rebultan-Linton, Manger of the Curtis R. Tucker Health Center (part of the L.A. County Department of Health Services), about these students, she offered to help by hosting a clinic on our campus. "We are so grateful to Maria and her dedicated nursing staff for taking such good care of our students," shared Principal Elward.  "Their efforts have helped them to stay protected from whooping cough and to stay in school."

A special thanks also goes to our HSA office staff, especially Nicole Sanchez and Angelica Alvarez, for all of the work they did to help us reach compliance.
