STUDENTS SHOW CONTINUED ACADEMIC GAINS ON CALIFORNIA STANDARDS TESTS

The API (Academic Performance Index), which is part of California's accountability system, measures student and school performance and growth based on statewide assessments.

With a growth of 18 points, HSA met and exceeded its 2010-11 growth target on a schoolwide level and within all designated student groups.  This is on par with the average LAUSD increase of 19 points, and well above the state's average of 10 points.

"It's gratifying to see our results reflect the continued hard work and dedication of our students and staff," says HSA Principal Dr. Erik Elward. "But perhaps most important is that our students are learning that if they put in the time and the effort, and if they believe in themselves, they can continue to grow and achieve great things."

Scores for the district schools that HSA students would have otherwise attended include Washington Preparatory High School - 552,  and Gardena High School - 618, Animo Locke Charter High School #1 - 609, Animo Locke Charter High School #2 - 610, Animo Locke Charter High School #3 - 560, and Animo Locke Technology High School - 612.

HSA also had an Average Daily Attendance (ADA) rate of 96.5% in the 10-11 school year, further proof of the dedication of our students, faculty and staff.

Congratulations Wolves!
