CAREER READINESS SKILLS TRAINING
Throughout all of their classes, and in partnership with outside individuals and organizations, HSA students are taught skills that are critical to obtaining and maintaining successful employment.
Areas of focus include communication, organization, time management, public speaking, presentations, writing, computer literacy, interviewing, resume building, dependability, problem solving, and methods for conducting a job search.
Mock Interview Days
This training culminates in a Mock Interview Day in their 11th grade year. On this day, students go through the interview process with an outside community member who spend approximately 15 minutes conducting a one-on-one interview with assigned students and going over their resumes, cover letters and a brief PowerPoint presentation. The interviewers then use a rubric to provide constructive feedback to their students. Interviewers are recruited from the health services community. Students are also evaluated on the training components by their teachers.
Successful completion of specific aspects of this training will result in students earning a certificate that will be required for job shadowing and internship eligibility in the 11th and 12th grades.
