Opportunities for High School Students at UCLA (Summer Programs)

During the summer months, visiting high school students have three different summer experiences to select from here at UCLA: academic courses, Precollege Summer Institutes, or Summer College Immersion Program. All programs award UC credit. Registration is open now!

NEW! Summer College Immersion Program
The UCLA Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP) is designed for exceptionally high-achieving high school students to provide a real-world introduction to an academic life at UCLA. In this six-week program, students choose two courses from a curated list of UCLA undergraduate courses and earn college credit studying alongside UCLA students. They also enjoy exclusive access to college readiness workshops, guest lectures by UCLA faculty and more. Open to rising juniors and seniors. Apply now

Precollege Summer Institutes
Precollege Summer Institutes are designed for advanced high school students who wish to gain academically challenging college-level experience through hands-on, experiential learning. Topics include Mock Trial, Nanoscience Lab, Camera Acting and many more. Register now

Academic Courses
With UCLA academic courses, high school students take classes alongside college students to experience the challenge of college academics. Students can select a schedule that works best with their other summer plans by selecting one or two courses from a list of over 100 options. Some courses are even offered fully online. Register now

UCLA Summer Scholars Support Scholarship

UCLA Summer Sessions offers a limited number of full and partial scholarships to California high school students participating in all of our programs and courses.

Summer Scholars Support is awarded based on academic ability (and artistic ability, if applicable) and financial need. Priority is given to those without any comparable experience. This year, $100,000 is available to support 40-50 partial or full scholarships.

In order to apply for Summer Scholars Support, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Must be registered and attending a high school in the state of California
Have not received any Summer Scholars Support in the past
Must be a continuing high school student in Fall 2019 (seniors graduating in 2019 are ineligible)
Must be enrolled in 2019 UCLA Summer Sessions, either an academic course, eligible Precollege Summer Institute or Summer College Immersion Program.
Have a family annual adjusted gross income of $115,000 or less
