MESA STUDENTS COMPETE AT THEIR FIRST REGIONAL EVENT

Fourteen 9th and 10 grade members of the HSA Mathematic, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Club competed against over 400 MESA members from high schools throughout Southern California.

Our students completed three human brain modeling projects, two spring-powered car projects, and three projects that involved dropping fragile eggs in a secured and calculated force impacted container from a six story building.  All 14 HSA students also competed in a solo mathematics competition based on California standards.

HSA's own Christopher F. came in 3rd place in the solo mathematics competition, earning him a spot at the regional state competition taking place in April!

The day also enabled students to tour the UC Irvine campus, network with current MESA students and alumni, and obtain more insight into what is needed to be 100 percent college ready.

We are extremely proud of our students and their accomplishments!   We are also grateful for HSA teachers and MESA advisors, Mr. Swain, Mr. Serrano and Ms. Adams, who dedicated time after school and Saturdays to prepare our students.
