9TH GRADE CLASS TOURS UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

"If you stay ready, you ain't gotta get ready." Ms. Corliss Bennett-McBride, Director of the school's Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs used those words from Rapper Sugar Free as a centerpiece of her talk with HSA students during a recent visit to USC.  Her goal was to help them understand the work they need to be doing now in order to ensure that they are ready for success in college and in life.  She also shared valuable insight about student life at USC, as did Billy Vela, Director of USC's El Centro Chicano.

USC student leaders then gave HSA freshman a tour of school grounds.  Tommy Trojan, one of several libraries, the media and communications area, and the trophy room were among the highlights of the tour.  Tour guides also shared information on the many diverse programs at USC.

Students enjoyed lunch in Alumni Park, where they were able to interact with University students and see the USC student government process in action as candidates campaigned for the upcoming election.

We are grateful to Ms. Bennett-McBride, Mr. Vela, our tour guides and everyone at USC for rolling out the cardinal red and gold carpet for us.

Fight on!
